WHAT ARE THE CHOICES? SAFETY
All gate systems must include a range of safety devices
and the final specification will depend on the situation, usage and your
own requirements. Failure to adopt safety measures can lead to personal
injury and vehicle damage.
These are the most common types of safety enhancements you can choose from:
Vehicle sensing loops:
Detect the presence of vehicles in and around the entrance and prevent
the gate from closing.
Beam sensors:
Detect any obstruction between sensors and prevent the
gate from closing.
On gate sensors:
Immediately stop and reverse the gate operation if an obstruction
is present in the gate's path.
Automatic time delay closer:
Shuts the gate automatically once clear of
the safety device.
Experience:
Nothing can replace the benefit of relevant experience from a knowledgable
installer. An installation that is done incorrectly could result in
personal injury or vehicle damage. It is always a good policy to take the
advice of professionals.
Something as simple as a sliding gate adjacent to railings
could, without proper advice and safety measures, pose a serious risk of
personal injury if the implications are not considered.
