WHAT ARE THE CHOICES? SLIDING GATES
Sliding gate systems are generally more suited to larger,
heavy duty applications where security is the biggest factor. Sliding gates
do not encroach on the driveway/yard areas and can be installed where space
for a swing gate is not available. However, they do require a straight,
level, unobstructed line of travel. Cantilever type sliding gates should
be at least 30% longer than the opening itself.
It is possible to automate existing sliding gates if the factors detailed above apply to the site conditions.

There are special safety considerations needed with sliding gates which your professional installer will be prepared for. For example, if a sliding gate is installed next to railings there is a danger of a child putting their arm through the gate and the railing and it would become trapped when the gate is operational. There are ways that this can be avoided which your installer will advise you on.
